Leprechaun Dust!

We made Leprechaun Dust!

Recipe:
3 cups baking soda
1/2 cup hair conditioner
1 packet of green kool-aid
plus a healthy dose of green glitter
(Similiar to the consistency of moon sand)

Such a fun sensory experience and it smells fabulous!

After the children explored this interesting mixture one of the children asked if we could add water to it. I decided to give all the children a chance to try dripping not only water onto the mixture but vinegar as well.

The children really enjoyed this experiment and the result of the reactions!

Although this is a science and sensory activity it also aids in language development. When children hear and use words to describe the many sensations and actions that come with sensory play, their vocabularies grow. When you ask children what they think is happening during a science lesson you are challenging them to think and talk in a more complex way.
